Italian Open final result
Carlos Alcaraz defeated Jannik Sinner 7-6 (5), 6-1 in the final to claim the 2025 Italian Open championship. It was Alcaraz’s first Italian Open title and his seventh ATP Masters 1000 crown, cementing him as the ATP Rome winner for 2025.
The first set proved tightly contested. Sinner led 6-5 and held two set points on Alcaraz’s serve, but the Spaniard saved those break points and swung the momentum in the tiebreaker. Alcaraz jumped ahead with two aces in the breaker and won five of the final six points to take the set. In the second set Alcaraz raised his level, breaking Sinner early and winning six of the first seven games to roll to a 6-1 victory.
Victory significance
Alcaraz’s straight-sets win snapped Sinner’s 26-match winning streak on clay. The victory also makes him the 2025 ATP Rome champion (Italian Open winner). With this big clay-court title, Alcaraz extends his dominant form this season and heads into upcoming tournaments in confident mood.
