The win further cements PSV’s status as the dominant force in recent Dutch football. Manager Peter Bosz, who led PSV to the 2023/24 crown as well, became the oldest coach ever to lift the Eredivisie trophy (at 61 years 178 days). The championship also guarantees PSV another Champions League campaign next season, a reward for their consistency.
Captain Luuk de Jong reflected on the roller-coaster race, admitting the team had feared the worst when Ajax once held a nine-point lead in April. “We’d more or less given up hope when we went nine points behind,” he said, praising his teammates for regrouping to “finish the job today”.
